We are super excited to announce that TREK has joined Cycling 2000. TREK is one of the biggest bike brands in the world and approached us last year looking for a partner in the Staffordshire & Derbyshire. We cant wait to get started.

Representatives from TREK will be here on the 18th May for our annual Spring Cycle Event.

A Brief History

In 1976, with just 5 members of staff, Trek started manufacturing steel touring frames in Waterloo, Wisconsin, aiming at the mid to high-end market dominated by Japanese and Italian-made models. Trek built nearly 900 custom hand-brazed framesets that first year, each selling for under $200.

Trek quickly established itself as a pioneer in bicycle technology. Some notable milestones include:

  • The introduction of the first lightweight steel touring bike, the 720, in the early 1980s.
  • The development of the Trek 2000, one of the first affordable carbon fiber road bikes, in the late 1980s.
  • The iconic OCLV (Optimum Compaction Low Void) carbon fiber manufacturing process, debuted in 1992, setting new standards for strength, weight, and ride quality.
  • The invention of the IsoSpeed decoupler in 2012, a suspension system that provided increased comfort and performance on rough roads.

You want to save some dough with a sturdy alloy frame, and don’t mind upgrading your components over time. The Carbon version for if you have race days on your mind and the only cure is more hardtail.
