Garmin have launched 2 new GPS Cycling Computers and a whole new range of Rally Power Pedals, here we look at the various options and differences.

Just when you thought they couldn’t improve on current Edge 540 and 840 they have come up improved versions with the Edge 550 and Edge 850. Slightly bigger screens, significantly improved battery life (so no need for a solar option) and some great new features, we particularly like the fueling notifications and live weather updates!

The brand new Edge® 550 & 850 now feature smart fueling alerts that account for fitness, course demands, heat and humidity. Ride with preloaded maps for road, gravel and trails. Get alerts for road hazards reported by fellow cyclists. Train like a pro with a variety of plans that integrate seamlessly with your device. Garmin Cycling Coach plans even adapt to your performance, recovery and more when riding with your compatible power meter and heart rate monitor. With the Edge 850 get clear workout and navigation prompts, thanks to a built-in speaker. A bike bell lets you alert riders and pedestrians, and Garmin Pay contactless payments make fueling stops a breeze.

INTRODUCING RALLY 110/210 SERIES

Garmin’s pedal power meter series has seen an update across the range, with options for Look Keo, Shimano SPD-SL and for the off roaders or gravel riders, Shimano SPD cleat options. Rally 110/210 delivers ±1% accurate, highly responsive power. Swap between carbon road and all-metal off-road bodies. 110 is single-sided; 210 dual-sensing adds left/right balance and advanced metrics. Rechargeable for up to 90 hours with travel mode to conserve charge. Pedal IQ smart calibration prompts optimal zeroing for consistent, repeatable data.

The big differences over previous pedals from Garmin firstly sees a design that allows the pedal bodies to be easily swapped from road to the SPD off road/gravel option. The second big improvement is the switch to a rechargeable system which is so much more convenient. It is now also possible to buy bundles which include a pair of Shimano SPD-SL or Look KEO pedals with a pair of Shimano SPD pedal bodies allowing you to swap between road and off road bikes using the 2 different pedal bodies supplied.
